The Zombie Father's Day

Beginning on Shawn's first Father's Day in 2005, I started a tradition of buying him and his child(ren) matching t-shirts.

Star Wars Storm Trooper shirt for Shawn, Star Wars Storm Pooper onesie for Mazy

But apparently, as I look through my old photos, I did not keep up the tradition very well...  I cannot find any Father's Day photos from 2006. But here's one from that general time period:

And in 2007, I just dressed them in kind of matching shirts:

I cannot find any photos of Father's Day 2008, which would have been right before Bo was born. Weird. I can't imagine I didn't photograph something... But here's one that's from that general time period:

I found Father's Day photos from 2009 and 2010, but no matching shirts. So much for my tradition... Bo entered the Father's Day scene in 2009.

Ah ha! In 2011, I started the tradition again! Back to the tried-and-true theme of Star Wars:

But this year, I was organized and ordered t-shirts for all three children and Shawn that were created by the same artist and were one of Shawn's favorite themes, zombies! The plan was to dress them all in their shirts and take Shawn out for lunch at Zombie Burger in Des Moines. Unfortunately, about 1,387 other families had that same idea. It was PACKED. We didn't even stop to see how long the wait was. Instead, we went to Tasty Taco! Here are a few pics of Shawn and his children in their zombie shirts for Father's Day 2012:

This could be a meeting of the Big Heads Club. :)  All three have noggins that measure off the size charts...

In other news:
  • Last night we had a baby shower at On the Border for my cousin Jordan. I have some fun pics from that to show you.
  • TODAY is Mazy's last day of first grade!!! I can't believe it!!
  • Violet had her two-month checkup yesterday (it was two weeks late, I don't know why they scheduled it that way). She is healthy and growing like a weed!
  • THIS IS BO'S BIRTHDAY WEEK!!!!! WHOOHOOOO!!! HOORAY FOR BO TURNING FOUR ON SUNDAY! More details to come on that.
  • I am working from home this week with Violet, and beginning this afternoon, with Mazy, too!
Well, it's time to wake up the boys and get them ready for their day. I was up a lot last night with Violet, she was running a low fever after her vaccines and couldn't sleep very well. Poor girl. Have a great day, everyone!

  1. Love the Fathers Day pictures...I think you've done pretty good to get as organized as you are with those pictures and shirts. Especially to find sweet baby girl a shirt too!!! Really really enjoyed seeing you and your family this last week - thanks so much for making so many efforts to see us - the shower - lunches - dinner at your parents. We really appreciated it all so much. Sure wish we all lived closer. love, Aunt C
