Cleaning the House, Literally...

I woke up yesterday and was working in the yard. For the past two years, it's really bugged me that part of the siding on the back of the house was stained with green mold or plant matter of some kind. And yesterday was the day to do something about it.

Bo and I, armed with kitchen sponges and liquid soap, scrubbed down the back of the house and removed all the green mold and dirt that we could reach. It looks great! Of course, we weren't tall enough to do all of it, but it's a start.

Also, I can't believe how great my little vegetable garden is doing. The tomatoes are growing like crazy! And the sweet potato vines are creeping along nicely. The only thing that did not make it were the two watermelon plants behind the garage. Probably a blessing, as the pumpkins are planted very close to them and they might have crossbred...

This morning after breakfast, I ran out for groceries and then came home and helped Chef Mazy make some recipes for his boxed lunches this week. He wanted to make egg drop soup to put in his new thermos. I was very proud of him -- he read the entire recipe himself and followed all the steps by himself. I even coached him on how to start the stove correctly/safely and how to be cautious around hot pots and burners. Next we made apricot oat bars for his dessert. The bars are in the oven now. I'm planning to cut them into 2-in. squares and wrap them individually so we can freeze them. They should be thawed by the time he eats his lunch.

Once we eat a late lunch, we're heading to Nevada to see Shawn's folks. We were going to the art show at Reiman Gardens but it's hot and humid out, and the boys are not in great moods for being in public... (Or maybe it's mama who's not in the best mood.)  :)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a great week ahead!
