Mushroom Hunting We Will Go!

Today's plan: morel mushroom hunting!

Today's predicted success rate: 0 to 1 percent!

Today's predicted fun rating: 100 percent!

Yes, the boys and I are heading West to the timbers of Guthrie County to try our luck at mushroom hunting. We've made no plans with anyone. We're just going to start calling Grandpas and see which one is free to join us. and hopefully we'll get some lunch at PJ's in Panora and some time at the playground.

Yesterday we had a BLAST exploring Easter Lake. I've never been there before. It was beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. We explored a covered bridge, Owen's Bridge, that was originally built in1895 and moved to the park in the 60s. We had a picnic beside the lake. We went "off-roading" -- walked through the woods on deer trails instead of the recommended maintenanced trails. We sniffed wildflowers. We stopped at every playground we saw. It was great.

Today has started off rough though. Yesterday, in a temporary lapse of good judgment, I encouraged the boys to decorate the back door with sidewalk chalk. It's a vinyl door. It's white. It's now a stained white vinyl door. Grrr... Stupid, stupid, stupid. Really, that was a dumb thing for me to suggest. I did however find a 300+ page stain removal guide this morning created by our friends at Crayola. It's is amazing to me that they have 300+ pages of stain removal tips for "washable" Crayola products.

The boys are playing with their trains. I'm packing up extra clothes, snacks and we'll hit the road soon. Wish us luck for our morel hunt!
