I Love Plumbers

Tragedy diverted. Summer vacation fund intact. After TWO visits from plumbers and a mere $155 and change, our bathtub is draining and no longer leaking onto the dining room floor. Whooohhoo!

I'll admit I was pretty worried when Plumber #1 was unable to fix the problem because he didn't have time to saw through the ceiling to check out the pipes and replace them. He called Plumber #2 and asked him to come out today because "this lady on the East Side has kids and this is her only bathroom." Gee, I've never heard myself described in those terms. It sounds kind of pathetic....

But Plumber #2 arrived and cut a hole in the dining room ceiling, replaced a couple corroded pipes and was on his merry way. Both men were very polite and friendly. I made Indian meatballs while chatting with Plumber #2. We're having them tomorrow for supper.

And, I got a ton of housework done today! It was great. Having unexpected visitors really gives you motivation to clean!

Here is our hole. We discovered that our ceiling was originally about 1.5 feet higher than it is now. Someone along the way lowered it... Weird. I wish it was the original height. Care to wager how long we will live with this hole? Keep in mind we are currently living with a hole in our front porch door, a big hole in our back steps and a small hole in the ceiling near the bathroom where some water leaked. We are terrible homeowners...

After putting laundry away today, I took a few quick pics of the boys' bedroom:

Mazy's side of the room -- his dino quilt looks so good on the bed with the dino wall stickers around it! And that light blue bunny fleece blankie hanging on the end is his all-time favorite blanket. His Grandma Belinda made them both. That long white thing on the left-side is "Sharky" his 3-foot great white shark pillow from Grandma Katy. The lump beneath Sharky is "Buster" his favorite stuffed animal dog.

Here's Bo's side of the room. His dino quilt is folded on the end and gets used each night on top of the bedspread. Bo had space for a nightstand with a lamp, part of his dino collection and all of his Curious George books. His favorite stuffed animals are on his bed: Curious George, "Pup-pup" the dog, a big teddy bear he got from Santa and a penguin pillow pet from Grandma Maxine.

These small shelves are on Mazy's side. So far they hold some of his dinos, some of his artwork and a globe puzzle he got for his birthday.

One of the best things I did to give us extra space was move the dresser into the closet. I added paper labels to help him keep his clothes organized and make it easier for him to get dressed in the morning.

This is his favorite label: the walking underwear.

And here's all the labels -- since the dresser is hidden in the closet, it doesn't matter that it looks a little funky.

Well, that's about all for this Monday. Back to work tomorrow. But then off again on Friday for Good Friday! Whoohoo! Mazy has school so I think I will use that day to finish Easter shopping and work on Mother's Day gifts. Have a great Tuesday!
