Hey Spring, Where Did You Go?

All right Mother Nature, listen up. We in Iowa would like to appeal to your nice side and ask that you turn the heat back on and give us some sunshine. We're beginning to wonder if we're the butt of some great big climatological joke --

Mother Nature: "Watch this! After giving them several 20-below-zero days this winter, I give them a couple days of sunshine and let the flowers start to bloom and just when they put away their sweaters and winter coats, BAM! I drop the temp by 30 degrees and make it snow!! Hahahah! Oh man, it never gets old playing with these Iowans!"

In non-weather news, the boys and I were home today. This is now a very rare occurrence on a weekday. Both woke up hacking and complaining of sore throats. Honestly, they probably should have gone to school/daycare but you know what, sometimes a day with Mama is what you need to cure your ails and it's what Mama needs to remind her that there is a whole lot more to life than news releases, writing copy for signs at Best Buy and reading content strategy books.

I'm looking forward to Friday Night Movie Night with the boys. We're having apple slices, cucumbers and frozen pizzas. We have a Curious George movie for Bo and then some Goosebumps for Mazy after his brother is in bed. Shawn will be adding Odd Fridays -- the every-other-week get-together at our former daycare providers' house for sci fi and boardgame fanatics from all walks of life. They are an interesting and lovable bunch and Shawn enjoys it very much. So I'm glad he's gotten back into the habit of attending. And it gives me some one-on-one time with my boys.

This weekend we are HOME all weekend! Whoo hooohhooohooo! We'd  planned the great backyard makeover but now the impending snow and cold has changed our plans and we will instead FINALLY get the boys room cleaned, organized and dinosaurized. Look for before and after pics on Saturday.

That's all for now. Stay warm and kiss someone you love.

P.S. Welcome back from England Uncles Tobe and Bob and Sal! Loved the pics you sent out today -- thanks for sharing!
