Happiness for Packerdom

The Packers are going to the Super Bowl!

I'll repeat that for dramatic effect, the Packers are going to the Super Bowl! Typically, I could care less about football. But I have always liked the Packers (since living in Wisconsin for four years) and of course, they are Shawn's all-time favorite sports team in the universe. So it was with much angst and then delight that he watched the game today.

I sewed. Quite a bit of sewing this weekend, actually! The star quilt for Irelyn is almost complete. I have two more border pieces to sew on it. And I finished the applique on Imersyn's owl quilt and have just one border to attach. AND I finished my two remaining car trash holders -- but I totally screwed one up and it would take so much work to rip it apart and do it again that I've just decided to iron a big "B" on it and hang it on Bo's side of the van. (He won't know that it's not supposed to look that way.) Then he and Mazy will each have a trash bag/book pocket for the van. And finally, I cut out and pretty much finished Mazy's bedside pocket organizer. I'm debating the best way to attach it to his bunkbed, so that's why it isn't completely finished.

In other news, we had a great time in Nevada yesterday with Shawn's side of the family. We ate lunch at Hickory Park in Ames -- delish! Shawn's sister Denise and her family joined us. The men watched True Grit, the boys napped and the women all sewed. Maidrites, chips, salad, and birthday pies for supper. And then today, we picked up the house, Shawn got groceries, I sewed this afternoon while he watched football, and we just now got the boys bathed, in jammies and they're enjoying an ice cream treat before bed.

Meal plan for week of Jan. 24

Monday -- pasta with bay scallops (frozen from two weeks ago), salad and bread

Tuesday -- Shake N Bake chicken, sweet potatoes, roasted brussel sprouts

Wednesday -- Fish and shrimp with spinach packets in the oven, wild rice pilaf, steamed veggie pack

Thursday -- Meatloaf, mashed potatoes (steam in the bag kind) and carrots with dill sauce

Friday -- steak fajitas!

That's about it. Not a lot on the calendar for this week. I'm  hoping to work in the basement each night for one hour. If I do that, my sewing/scrapbook area should be ready for business! And next Saturday, Shawn's sister Sandy gave us her tickets to the ISU women's basketball game so we're going to that while Shawn's parents babysit the boys. My cousin Ellie is a freshman walk-on on the team! Can't wait to see her suited up!\

Have a great week, everyone!

  1. Tell Shawn Congratulations!! Good game. Sounds like you had a great weekend. Don't know how you do it all, especially in the cold! Brrrr. Dad said he stopped by Bandy's on Saturday afternoon - didn't get to see the baby - but did the rest. Kindi's Mom was there also...he said Irelyn was really friendly and cute. I haven't really seen a picture of Imersyn - would love to. Have a great day - stay warm. Ribbon cutting for new group home is this Thursday, but house not complete, due to gas line problems. Love, Aunt C
