Another Culminating Event at the Downtown School

Tomorrow is Mazy's second "culminating event" -- when parents and grandparents are invited to the school for presentations by the students about the topic they have been learning about for the past six weeks or so. The current topic for Mazy's classroom is: grocery stores.

Instead of a speech at the front of the room, like they did in September, the students were told to create their own game based on their field trip to the grocery store. Tomorrow, parents and grandparents will walk around the room, while the children explain the games to us and then challenge us to play. Mazy created a matching game -- match the grocery store worker with the item he/she uses. I thought that was pretty creative for him. He also had to create two works of art, which will be unveiled tomorrow.

Anyway, I am looking forward to attending. Shawn can't make it this time, which is a bummer because they scheduled this one right before lunch so the parents can take the kids out to eat afterward and then bring them back to school for the rest of the afternoon. They don't have school on Wednesday, but Mazy will be attending the after-school program that day. They're bringing in animals from the zoo! So he should enjoy that.

And on Thursday our four-day weekend can begin! We're headed to Nevada this year with Shawn's family. I'm making homemade rolls.

Hey Uncle Tobin -- do you ever share the recipe you used for the dinner rolls at the Beehive? Those were the most delicious rolls I've ever eaten at a restaurant!

And Aunt Cindy -- have a great time entertaining this week! Sounds like you are ready for the crowd! What fun! I look forward to the day we have a bigger house and get to host the boys and their families for the holidays. I'll make all their favorite foods and their significant others better not even think about trying to get out of it!!

Well, I brought home about three hours of work for tonight so I better get at it.
