A Three-Smiley-Face Day

Shawn's "Cafe Chew" pumpkin carved with a steaming cup o' joe on it.
He carved it for our uncles, Tobin and Bob, for their
coffee shop, Cafe Chew, in Sandwich, Mass.

It's been a long time coming. (Probably felt like an eternity for the daycare.) But today Bobo, my little 2-year-old hell on wheels received THREE smiley faces on his daily report today!! It actually said, "Good Boy!!!" (With three exclamation points. They were as surprised as we were.) He has been a different boy these past two weeks -- a sweet, funny, cute-as-a-button toddler who keeps us smiling and laughing with his singing and talking.

I don't want to jinx us, but I'm hoping this behavior will be around for awhile.

The weather was beautiful today. Pretty warm for late September. I went downtown for lunch with a couple friends. Ate at the South Union Bread Company -- best pepperjack potato soup you'll ever eat.

As I was writing this, I received an email with a photo of one of Shawn's recent masterpieces -- the Cafe Chew pumpkin. He loves to carve pumpkins -- real or fake. In recent years he's been carving a lot of artificial ones with a special heated carving knife, a jar of decoupage glue and a lot of creativity. He's quite good. So that's today's photo -- the Cafe Chew pumpkin at its new home on the coffee bar at Cafe Chew. Thanks for the photo, Uncle T!
