Step 2: Enjoy a nice hot shower while carrying on a conversation about bad dreams with your son who is standing out in the hallway.
Step 3: Be greeted by a 2-year-old with sleepy eyes who says, "Hi Mama!"
Step 4: Reach into the closet and find all the pieces you need for your "dressy" outfit, even though you haven't done laundry in a few days.
Step 5: Create five extra minutes to put on makeup so you feel confident and ready for your big client meeting at noon.
Step 6: Make your children a hot breakfast -- eggs, bacon and whole wheat English muffins with milk and apple slices. They will thank you, and so will their schools and daycares.
Step 7: Smile and smother kisses on the child who looks at you as you're about to depart for the day and says: "Beautiful dress, Mama! Beautiful rainbow dress!"
That last step is the most important. Thank you Bobo -- for making me feel beautiful in my "rainbow dress" today! He is the most charming 2-year-old I know. (Note: My dress is not a rainbow. It's actually a long skirt with a lot of fall-colored ribbons sewn on it. Rainbows are beautiful, but not really my style.) :)
P.S. Happy birthday, Grandpa Pud! Looking forward to your big party on the farm Sunday!
