I won't lie. There have been a few three-day weekends in recent history that could not end quickly enough for me. Sometimes 72-hours of family time doesn't go as planned -- grand schemes foiled by sickness, tantrums, grumpiness, weather, whatever. By the time the long weekends are finished I am ready to head back to work and routine.
But this three-day weekend was fantastic. It was the perfect mix of productivity and fun. My only regret is that we didn't get more laundry done, but hey, that's pretty darn good for us. We'll scrounge up enough clothes to get us all through tomorrow and be just fine. :)
We had a great time at the farm yesterday -- we outran the big storm all the way back to Des Moines. Good thing since the 70 mph winds ripped through the farm, taking down three big trees and tons of branches! We didn't see any of those high winds in Des Moines but it did ran a bunch. We saw a lot of flooding up near Nevada when we went there for lunch today.
Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos at the farm yesterday. So you won't get to see sweet little baby Knox and his adorably chubby cheeks, or Bo's all-orange outfit that he picked out for himself, or Violet's purple polkadotted swimsuit, or Mazy's sweaty shirt after he asked everyone to play catch with him, or any of the other entertaining moments on the farm.
Speaking of the farm, I hope the kids remember and appreciate these events. They are chaotic and crazy and fantastically fun for people of all ages -- it really makes me happy that we live here and can spend time with all our relatives.
Can you believe we're starting September? I know a lot of people talk about their crazy, hectic summers but for our family the fall is the busiest time of the year. We've already booked most of our Saturdays in September and October. That's probably a good thing since our house will soon be on the market and hundreds of people will be coming to our house to make bids. :) I believe in positive thinking. We're going to sell this house and be in a new one by Thanksgiving!
Hope you all have a great week ahead! Go Packers on Thursday, which is also my sister's birthday!
