Weekend Trip to Kansas City

We've been home about 2 hours after having a GREAT weekend in Kansas City with my sister Heidi, her husband Steve and their great kids Theron and Hudson. It really was a fun time! Heidi and I were able to sneak away for a couple hours yesterday for lunch and shopping. Oh I miss Saturday shopping trips with my sister.

We went to La Bodega -- a Spanish restaurant. We arrived at 2 and were able to order from the happy hour menu -- really cheap and really delicious tapas! We ordered four plates and spent only $7 something each. It was great!

Friday night we arrived in town at about 5 p.m. Easy drive, good weather. We took the entire gang to the Asian Palace for all-you-can-eat sushi night. It's really a pretty incredible deal -- you order soups, appetizers, salads, and all the rolls you want! They only ask that you don't order more than you're able to finish, which is quite fair. Everyone but Bo and Hudson ate the sushi-- they shared some fries and chicken fingers, and played with Batman toys.I think we ordered 13 or 14 rolls and ate every single piece, plus the soups, appetizers and salads. It was really good and very affordable at $22/adult and $10/child.

I've got lots of photos that I'll try to get up tomorrow. We stopped in Lamoni at noon today for lunch at the Maid-Rite restaurant. The boys are so much easier to travel with these days. Thanks to Shawn's mom for loaning us her double DVD player so each boy had a small screen hanging from the seatback in front of him to watch while we drove. Between movies, books and action figures (and some snacks) they were happy and content with few fights or outbursts.

I just paid some online bills and now I'm heading back to the basement to work on some sewing projects. I already cleaned up my area and started cutting out a new project. Need to put away all the stuff from the trip and figure out supper, too. But that can wait an hour or two. :)

Thanks again, Heidi and Steve -- for a very fun time! See you at the farm for Christmas!

  1. We had a great time too! It's so much more fun to window shop when you're here too! Theron and Hudson miss the boys. We'll see you at Christmas.
